Three favourite prayers meme

Shadowlands has tagged me for a meme which was devised by Mulier Fortis and whose rules are as follows:
Name your three most favourite prayers, and explain why they're your favourites. Then tag five bloggers - give them a link, and then go and tell them they have been tagged. Finally, tell the person who tagged you that you've completed the meme... The Liturgy and the Sacraments are off limits here. I'm more interested in people's favourite devotional prayers.

Being attracted to Carmelite and Byzantine spirituality (the two have a great deal in common) my three prayers are:

1) Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity's famous prayer to the Trinity - Elizabeth gives expression to her astonishingly rich Trinitarian spirituality in a prayer which offers up inexhaustible treasures of theological wisdom;

2) The Trisagion Prayers - some basic prayers as used by Eastern Catholics and Orthodox which, again, are deeply Trinitarian,

3) The Jesus Prayer - central to the tradition of Byzantine spirituality (Catholic and Orthodox), here explained by an anonymous Orthodox monk.

Thanks to Ros for tagging me, and thanks to Mulier Fortis for coming up with such a thought-provoking meme.

Without wishing to cause any jealousy amongst fellow memes(is that that the plural of meme?) I have to say Mark, your choices are astoundingly good!!
They affected my soul as I read them, especially the stuff about the Jesus prayer, which I am going to bookmark. I had been struggling with some very materialistic 'being' (that's the only way I can think to describe it) and when I started to read the words, it all just fell away and I could see my way through again. So, thank you very much for posting these prayers. Miraculous stuff. And such beautiful language, which is a real treat for a coarse creature, such as I.
God bless and keep you safe!!

By the way, who is Gerondas?

It's Greek for "Elder". The Orthodox often refer to monks who have a great reputation for holiness and wisdom as "elders".

Thanks for the tag; I've done it... they're pretty much standard. I really enjoyed reading yours.
